Article: The Name Cultura Campaign

The Name Cultura Campaign

Why the Name Feels Different Now

When I named Cultura Campaign over six years ago, it wasn’t political at all. It was just me wanting to make cosas that felt like home. Things that reminded me of my family, my city, my cultura. “Campaign” came from the idea of celebrating who we are loud and proud; like a constant, everyday campaign for joy and community.

But times change, and the world feels louder. Suddenly being orgullosamente Latino feels like a statement. Wearing something that says “cultura” or “latino” or literally anything in Spanish can feel bold, even when to us it’s just… normal. It’s who we are.

So now, yeah, Cultura Campaign can read as political, even though that wasn’t the original intention. And honestly? I’m okay with that. If showing love for nuestra cultura makes a statement, then let it be a powerful one. If buying a sticker or a mirror or a t-shirt makes you feel seen, protected, connected, or proud, that means everything to me.

Cultura Campaign didn’t start as political, but it grew into a space where our identity is celebrated, defended, and worn with orgullo. And if that’s political to someone… pues ni modo. We’re still here.
